Hello, last weekend when I went to flip the lever on my 40hp johnson motor so that I could lift it up and put it on a transom saver the lever popped and broke? The lever can be pulled out of its hole, and the cylinder will not release. I ended up taking a pivot bolt out so that I could lift the motor and trailer the boat home.

I've tried searching the internet and this forum for answers, but i'm not having much luck. I was hoping someone here could point me in the right direction? Here are the particulars on my motor. The model number is TJ40ELESR the serial number is G02527194. Hopefully I explained my situation well enough.

Its doesn't have electric trim/tilt.it just has a lever that you twist when you want to raise the motor up for transport I suppose thats called tilt assist? It has always worked fine til this last weekend, I twisted it so that I could raise the motor up and put the transom saver on, and the lever just pulled out of its hole. Then it wouldn't release the shock so that I could raise the motor. Does that make sense?
