Hollywood has run out of good movie ideas and are just rehashing stuff which does suck. I do think Brandon is right though that if you want to see a unique IP your probably going to have to hit an independent festival or something but I'm not very well versed in that area. I just go see the occasional big movie. Constantine just came out and is already getting cancelled? FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold 3 years ago I agree with Blaine about the whole re-hashing the same thing over and over again. When I watched The Know news about that new Cinderella movie, I just was like 'really?'
There's always a ton of retellings of the fairytales and such, especially Cinderella, and it just gets so old. I can think of at least 5 other ones made within the last 20 years (probably twice or even triple even that may exist in just that small timeframe). I mean enough is enough.
But as JJ said, all you can really do is just not go see it and hopefully not make sequels. Though some adaptions can be done well if pieces of the story are taken into account. Like a great example was the mini-series on SyFy called Alice and I thought that was a really neat series.
It had a steampunk futuristic vibe to the series. It had a different story line, but still took parts from both Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. And what they did to the March Hare was so crazy, yet really cool! I highly recommend it. SyFy also has done other adaptations as well, such as the Tin Man And Neverland. However, I have not seen either of those (I know Tin Man was nominated for a bunch of Emmys, not sure if it won any of them though). And on another note, I really hope that you guys do Into the Woods as the Film/Pick of the Week when it comes out.
